Around The Island Race

 Portsmouth RI June 2^nd

This year NENSA is bringing back the old Around the Island Race.  This is a 1-day race ~ 40 miles around Aquidneck Island (Newport) from Sandy Point in Portsmouth.

Start time: 11 AM Sharp.

Entry Fee:  10 $

Location:  The race starts and finishes at Sandy Point in Portsmouth, RI

Directions:  See advert for the Sakonnet Challenge for directions to Sandy Point.

This event is open to all catamarans 16 feet and up.  It is a low-key distance race that usually takes 4-8 hours to complete.  The race will be scored via Portsmouth for all boats.  This is an At Risk Event.  There are no chase boats and you are on your own once you start, however it is very hard to get lost on this race if you have a chart and 90% of it is sailed in protected waters.  Road Crew is not needed for this race.  If you want to try distance racing, this is for you.
